A Columbus man faces up to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony count tied to his role in a mortgage fraud scheme.

The U.S. Attorney's Office and Internal Revenue Service said Michael McAuley, 40, pleaded guilty Monday to one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. McAuley, a broker in Columbus, is accused of falsifying loan applications on seven transactions in a scheme officials say ran between November 2005 and December 2006.
